Dropbox
Few practicalities related to this cloud service provider
- Please read Cloud Sync & Backup page first. It is more generic and will give you the necessary context.
- All data Better Clipboard ever uploads to Dropbox is encrypted. There are however privacy aspects to consider. For example: Do you want to mix your private clips with your work related ones? Think about those before enabling Better Clipboard Cloud Sync on just another computer or mobile device.
- To use Dropbox as the underlying cloud storage service Better Clipboard does not require Dropbox desktop application (the one that normally sits in your tray area) being installed on your computer. All you need is a valid Dropbox account and a successful connection procedure Better Clipboard application offers.
You might experience quite annoying Dropbox notifications…
Dropbox is an amazing service with many useful features. One of them can however become a real nightmare. If Dropbox desktop app is installed on your computer you might experience notification about every single change happening on your Dropbox storage. That is useful when you work with your Dropbox files directly. It however becomes a nightmare if used by 3rd party app (Better Clipboard in this case) as its underlying cloud service. Dropbox officially supports 3rd parties, we have contacted their support repeatedly together with many other companies and individual developers. Unfortunately lies this request unprocessed since 2015 with the explanation even more request must be collected.
How to silence the notifications?
- It has zero impact on your standard Dropbox notifications
- Find Dropbox Preferences dialog – usually via Dropbox tray icon (and clicking on your account)
- Click the Notifications tab
- Disable the following notification types: “Files and folders shared with me”, “Shared files and folders opened by others”, “New files synced” and “Edits to files”
